Personal Miss M. Coley, of Vogel Street. lias returned from her recent holiday in Wellington. The friends of Mr. H. Aitchison, who has been confined to his bed for some time, will be pleased to hear that he is up and about again and much improved in health. Inspector Murphy, of the traffic department, was a visitor to Shannon for a short while on Wednesday evening. Mr. Murphy, who often visited friends in Shannon while stationed at Linton camp a few years ago, was on his way to Auckland, deiivering one of the new Canadian 100 horsepower trafflc patrol cars. Football The' secretary of the Shannon R.S.A. has received permission from the Horowhenua Rugby Union to arrange a football match between teams from Shannon and Foxton, the proceeds. of which would be divided between the Shannon and Foxton R.S.A. 'branches for the fund for Ihe erection of club rooms. Buckley Golf Team The playei;s which will represent Buckiey in a golf match with Tui Glen on Sunday next are as follows: Messrs. E. Harris and Mesclames Wilson, Boon, Higgie and Miss N. Easton. Rubbish on Streets A leiter was recently received by the. Shannon Borough Council drawing attention to e number of rcoidents in the borough who were piling their rubbish, hedge clippings, etc., on the roadside and ieaving it there for months. The correspondent was of the opinion that the streets were in such a depiorable condition that a pile of ruobish would not rnake any differenoe. The borough foreman was instructed to call on those residents and point out that they were breaking a by-law by placing rubbish on the streets, and request them to remove it.
