PROMINENT IN AUSTRALIA

Two New Zealand horses are the topic of discussion for Sydney racel'ans, who are watching one of them eagerly, as he is a favourite for the Melbourne Cup. The horses are Lord Barwon, who is down to make his debut in Australia, and Hiraji, who last Saturday dead-heated with Prince Standard in the three-year-old Quality Handicap at Rosehill. Lord Barwon, who is favourite for the Melbourne Cup, is progressing favourably in his work, and should be prominent in the running. Hiraji, who entered for the same race as Lord Barwon, the Hobartville Stakes, showed brilliant speed in his race last week, and may cause the crack Foxbridge colt some trouble. On form Hiraji may be the best prospect. Royal Flight is reported to be on her way back to New Zealanr^ as she failed to reach her true form in Australia. Winner of the 1945 Winter Cup, Royal Flight is a six-year-old mare by Salmagundi from Francolin.
