Received Friday, 11 a.m.' LONDON, Aug. 30. Official information has beeh received in London to the effect that the General Officer Commanding in Palestine, Sir Evelyn Barker, has commuted the death sentences recently passed on eighteen Jews for raiding the railway workshops in Haifa and shooting at British troops to life imprisonment. In Jerusalem to-day's sess'on oi the trial of Jacob Alkalai, charged with participating in the terrorist attack on the Haifa" railway workshops, has ended. The pro'ceedings were suspended when * accused, after being brought into court on a stretcher, with his legs in plaster, casts, suddenly paled and shrieked, "My feet are paralysed!" He was immediately taken to hospital after being handcuffed.
