Bearing evidqnce of its submersion in the dirty waters of the flooded Manawatu Riv.er, following the derailment of the train in the Manawatu Gorge, the majl recovered from the sunken railway waggon arrived in Hastings and Napier o'n Friday gnd was distrihuted on Saturday. Typical of the letter mail concerned is that of one which had the edges of the envelope discoloured and bearing dqposits pf a fawn-coloured silt. Curiously enough, thopgh the enyelope itqelf wgs quite dry, tlie contents were sfiill sodden.
