Fruit Fly Feared
Concern at the possioie muroauotion of fruit fly as a result of the prbposbd admission of Australian stone fruits was expressed at a meeting .of the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association. It was decided to recommend that the uuestion be dealt with by the Dominion Stone Fruit Committee. Mr. R. Paynter said it would _ bb a bad thing for the industry if fruit fly was introduced through Australian importations. He recalled an oc- ■ cdsion some years ago when it ^as rumbured that fruit fly had a hoia in the Dominion and New Zealdnd was exporting to South Africa. That country was so alarmed that it sent a delegation of scientiSts to New Zeaiand to investigate the mktter.
