WELLINGTON, August 23. About 15 permaiient appointnients will be open for New Zealanders in United Nations Organisation in New York, stated the special assistant to
the Director of the Personnel Hivision of UNO, Colonel T. W. L. Macdermot, at a Press conference today. Applicants will be selected entirely on their merit. There is a very vvide range of empJoyment — agricultural economists, politic.al oflicers (who must have a good training in international diplomacy). social economists, purchasing otiicers, budgetry assistants and maintenance employees, being a few of the positions open. The emplovment Rchemo is worked 011 a basis of geographical distribution Mr. Macdermot said those* nations who play the biggest part in the United Nations budget are liaving the larges' quota of personnel. All salaries will be tax free. iSome idea of these may be obtained from the fuet that directors will reeeive 10,000 dollars yearly, a stenographer 2100 dollars. A joint committee representative oi tlie public and Government, will be drawn up to advise and assist the United Nations representative in inter viewing aj)plicaiits.
