MARKET REPORT
Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd.. fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that all varieties of citrus have again commanded keen attention, particularly Meyer lemons, which are this year in short supply. Tree tomatoes, Cliinese gooseberries and passions have also been sought, while a ready enquiry exists for hot house tomatoes. All choice varieties of flowers have again sold readily, poppies, daffodils, soldors, violets and freesias being placed to advantage. Vegetable auctions have again been well attended most lines being in demand. Larger quantities of new potatoes have now come to hand, values remaining firm. Cab'oage, carrots, kumeras, swedes and pumpkins have all realised ceiling. Smaller yardings of poultry have been sought, values for prime birds, however, remaining very firm. Hens, heavy, 9/-, 15/-; light, 4/-, 8/-; ducks, young, 12/-, 18/6; old, 8/-, 10/6; cockerels, 7/-, 14/-; roostcrs, 6/-, 8/6; geese, 7/-. 9/-; muscoveys, 6/-, 8/6; pullets, 12/-. 16/-; turkeys, 2/- lb. live weight.
