GRANTS TO NIJRSES A POLICY MATTER Free grants of shoes and stocking:for nurses were the subject of mucli comment at the Palmerston North lio.pital Board yesterday when a letter was reeeived 1'roin, the secretary of the Auckland Hospital Board regarding such grants. It was stated by severn] memberthat they considered this a breac.h oi the stabilisation of hospital salaries a> laid down by the Hospital Boards' As sociation of New Zealand. It was al ready a fact that shoes and stoeking were supplied free to nurses in som. other hospitals. After discussion it was decided tlia ihe matter should be referred to the Hospital Boards' Association of New Zealand for a deelaration of policy. Ji was stated that the mat+fsr was urgeni ,as far as the Palmerston Nqrth Ho&pital Board was concerned.
