REPRESENTATIVE BASKETBALL
HOROWHENUA'S ACTIVITIES On Saturday last three representative basketball teams from the Hutt Valley-senior A, senior B and a B grade A team — travelled to Levin to play the Horowhenua representatives. In the B grade game the Hmt team proved itself superior to Horowhenua in both passing and shooting, and won by 18 goals to 6. The senior B game was also won by the Hutt Valley team, the score being 22 goals to six. The senior A game, which was played in heavy rain, proved a most exciting game, marked by good swift passing and good shooting by both sides. It was won by Horowhenua by 13 goais to 9. Much interest was attac.hed fo this game, as both of these teams will play in the second grade competition at the New Zealanl Basketball tournament, to be held at Tauranga next week. Although the match is an annual fixture, this is the first occasion that it has been played for a tropny. On Saturday Mr. Poynton brought with him a handsome cup, which he and his wife presented as a trophy for the winner of the. Hutt Valley— Horowhenua senior A match. Horowhenua tlius holds the Poynton Cup for the ensuing year. On Saturday next two .junior teams will travel from Te Kawau to play the B grade A and B teams. Representative practice for senior A and B and B grade A and B teams will be held at the Levin Domain, commeneing at 11 a.m. All players are asked to be present.
