The Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Nash, presented his longlookeci fcr election-winning Budget in the House of Representatives last evening, before crowded galleries. The main tax'ation relief disclosed was in respect of the aboliton of the saies tax on materials used in home construction and furnishing and clothing. Minor relief s are in respect of income tax and the excess profit tax. A feature of the statement was the recognition that high taxation militates against the establishment and extension of industries. Taxes which are regarded as the permanent sources of State revenues are retained.
