AUCKLAND, August 15. ' Auckland 's transport system wrill be partially paralysed next Wediiesdav as tlie result of a decision of the Drivers' Union to call a stopwork nieeting tliat day to protest against delays in introducing the new award. Buses, taxis.and loeal body drivers are not affect&d. but carriers and van drivers will not operate. Announcing that tlie stopwork meeting would be held in the Town Hall, tlie secretary of tlie Drivers' Union, Mr. L. G. M'atthews, said the conciliation proceedings held at the end of May and end of last niontli, proved abortive and the last meeting adjourned sine'dSe. He had received reports from the national secretary of the Drivers' Federation that discontent was rife in town and country owing to the failure to reacli an agreement. The question whether work would be resumed was to be decided1 by Wednes1 day's meeting, Mr. Mattliews declared.
