WELLINGTON, August 15. The law in New Zealand in relation Lo forbidden marriages, is brought more into eonforniitv willi that of Engtand regarding tlie prohibition of marriages with certain degrees of relationship, as ihe result of a new clause added lo the M arriage Ainendment Bill by the Statutes Revision Conimittee which reported the Bill back to the House. An explanatorv memorandum states that marriages with certain relalives are still prohibited in New Zealand although they are Javvful in Engiand. There is eoiisequently a danger that p»r sons who know the law of Engiand will innocently contraet marriages in New Zealand wliieh were void under our law Some such marriages have already been cont racted. The. eff'eet of the new clause is to Jegalise liie marrmge of a man with his fonner wife's aunt or his nephew 's for mer wile, and of women in e.orrespon ding cases, and to make elear that the law applies to these and in all other cases whether tlie fonner marriage was terinhialed by death or divorce.
