LEVIN W.C.T.U.
AUGUST MEETING HELD The August meeting of the Levin branch of the W.C.T.U. was held on Friday afternoon last, Mrs. A. C. Kennerley presiding. The meeting opened with devotions led by Captain Williamson, after which the pledge was recited. One new member was welcomed. Mrs. Hudson read two -temperance facts from the "White Ribbon." It was decided to purchase literature for distribution oy members. A letter was read from Mr. Milner, advising that the New Zealand Alliance meeting will be held in Wellington on August 22 and 23. Mrs. Kennerley reported on the district executive meeting, held recently in Palmerston North. The guest speaker for the afternoon was Major Ward, who gave an inspiring address on "The Gifts of Grace," for which she was thanked and presented with a bunch of spring flowers. A competition was won by Capt. Williamson and Mrs. Rose. Tinned foods sufficient to pack two parcels for dispatch to W.C.T.U. members in England were received. It is hoped to send two more parcsls next month. Tea hostesses were Mesdames Burnham and Moxham. The meeting closed with the Benediction. ___^
