WELLINGTON, Aug. 14. An announcemeut that the Govern ment had bought the share capital or Cnion Airways of New Zealand, Limit ed, and that New Zealand Xational Air ways Corporation would now take over the shares from the Government, was made today hy the Minister in charge the Air Department, Hon. F. Jones Ile added that the acquisition of the shares took place as from April 1 last and sinee then Union Airways had operated on behalf of the Government under tl\e supervision of the chairman of the corporation. The Minister pah' tribute to the line pioneering effort oi Union Airways in introducing reguhi! air transport serviees in New Zealam and referred also to the line record of the eompany whose standard of safetv and efficiency compared favourabl;. with the stanclards of airways operating in other countries.
