The American Ambassador, Mr. Stewart, said there was nothing in the statement that removed the difliculties preventing the Government and Communists reaching a settlement. "There is nothing further we can do. It is now up to the two Chinese factions to flnd a solution," Mr. Stewart added. He and General Marshall would eontinue their role as negotiators.
