BOOKMAKER CAUGHT TWICE IN A WEEK

WELHIXGTOX, August 12. A man convicted of bookmaking last Tuesday when he was lined £100 appeared in the Magistrate 's Oourt agam today charged with bookmaking on Saturday. He pleaded guiltv and was lined £2o0. "I shan't inflict imprisonment on this occasion but I shall if ne does it again, " said the Magistrate, Mr J. L. Stout. According to the evidence, aceuseu Robert Oolie, a salesman, aged 5.8, hau taken £141 15s in bets over the telephone up to the time the detectives arrived on the'premises. His explanation was thai he was obliging clientele for tlie lasi time. Seymour Hardie, a storeman, aged 32, also charged with bookmaking on Saturday, was lined £100. It was tiie first time he was before the Court.
