CHILDREN'S PLAY CENTRE
INAUGURAL MEETING IIELD Arrangements for a children's play centre in Levin were finalised at a recent meeting, held at the home of the Mayoress, Mrs. H. B. Burdekin. I The play centre will be open on Tuesday and Friday afternoons under the honorary supervisiori of Miss Hitchcock. A fee of five shillings per annum is to be charged and a daily fee of sixpence per child, and threepence for each additional child. The fee for visiting children will be -one shilling. Pre-school children from the age of two years will be admitted. St. Mary's Hall has been decided upon as the venue for the present time, this being considered the most suitable place available. With a view to obtaining funds for the purchase of necessary equipment, a stall and street collection is to be held on August 20. Donations to the stall will be very gratefully received by the committee. It is felt that the play centre will fill a great need for the mothers of Levin and district, and it is hoped that generous support will be accorded this effort. The committee is as follows: — Chairwoman: Mrs. H. B. Burdekin; secretary: Mrs. R. H. Long; treasurer, Mrs. Sharp; committee: Mesdames Davie, Neas, Rolston, G. Thompson, Keedwell, Clentworthi, Bertram, S. J. Thompson, H. Black and C. Black.
