LEVIN'S AUGUST MEETING
The August meeting of the Levin Women's Institute was held last Wednesday and although there was a fairly good attendance quite a number of members were absent through sickness. The meeting opened wjth the singing of one verse of the institute song, followed by the reciting of the aspirations. Mrs. Kellaway welcomed all members and friends, and wished all a pleasant afternoon. After the business, the president called on Mrs. Spencer, tne delegate to the recent Dominion conference, for her report. Mrs. Spencer kept her listeners very interested by describing what happened each day, until all felt they were actually there. A vote of thanks was accorded her for her excelient report. A talk on the making of posies, the arranging of flowers for a luncheon or dinner table, the arranging of floating bowls and how to make the best from bits and pieces out of the winter garden was given by Mrs. Evans. The president thanked Mrs. Evans for attending and_ imparting her knowledge so willingly, and presented her with a bunch of daffodils. The competitions resulted as follows:— Flower: Mrs. Dalton 1, Mrs. Spencer 2, Mrs. Maughan 3. Shrub : Mrs. Dalton 1, Mrs. Wilson 2. Vegetable: Mrs. Spencer 1, Mrs. Wilson 2. Thrift article: Mrs. Dalton 1, Mrs. Kellaway 2. Something new from something old: Mrs. Smith 1, Mrs. Haeman 2.
