WELLINGTON, Aug. 12. The new Chief Justice, Hon. H. F. O'Leary, took the oaths of allegiance and office before Mr. Justice Smith, and in the presence of Mr. Justice Johnston, to-day. The brief ceremony was performed in Mr. Justice Smith's rooms in the Supreme Court, and the Chief Justice then received the congratulations of his fellow Judges. ■ The ceremony was formal and nrivate.
