ANZAC DAY SERVICES
Sir, — I have read with grave concefn the great move in our country, as well as abroad, to ban the reading of the Bible and saying of prayers at our Ahzac T)ay services. it is also noted that our National Anthem. "God Save the King," would be omitted, as there would be no robm provided for it. One is just left to wonder what would be the deep feelings -of our beloved King and Queen towards our New Zealand, which has been so loyal in the past. To ban the reading of the Bible, which has brought Comfort, cneer, light and liberty to millions, and to deny the right to pray for our beloved nation, mothers, wives, etc., bereaved of their loved ones, who have fought and so nobly laid down their lives for the liberty we are so privileged to enjoy today. I trust that our local authorities, and the R.S.A. will continue to retain and maintain the spiritual and moral' standard that we have all enjoyed in Levin and district, and that they will not sell, give or reduce this liberty that we count so dear. — Yours., etc., "Returned Soldier, World War I" Levin, August 8. *
