He meets there a beautiful girl in WREN uniform, Clarissa Richmond (played by Phyllis Calvert) and tells her that !his mother's ancestor was. in love i in the early nineteenth century with the Marchioness of Rohan. form.erly Clarissa Richmond. An attendant reveals to young Rokeby that the Marchioness was an ancestor of Clariss_a/s and the two become pally. The soft conversation is pierced by the auctioneer's voice. "And now lot 273. Hoppner's noted portrait of the eighth Marquis of Rohan, known as the 'Man in Grey.' ''
