NEW PLYMOUTH, August 8. About 3000 cubic vards of spoil plungod into the Ohura River from tlie Taumarunui-Oliura main highway, making the road impassable on Wednesdav night. The slip occurred about 300 yards 011 the Taumarunui side of Tuhua. The slip is estimated to be about two cliains widc and 20 f'eet deep and it is not expected that the road will be clear before Saturday night at the earliest. The Ohura River, which was in semiflood 'when the slip occurred, was completelv dammed but by this afternoon the water had cut a cliannel through the spoil and was flowing nornially. Nearly all roads in the King Countrv are reported to. be in a poor state following heavy.rain.
