WEEK-END GOLF

ON TIIE LINKS AT BUCKLEY On Saturday afternoon the weather at Buckley was again unsiiitable for golf. Heavy rain fell early in the day, making the fairways and greens very heavy. Only seven players took the field for the August medal round, whieh incorporated the last qualifying round. Mr. K. Thomson was the winner of the ■medal with a nett score. of 65. Mr. Thomson played good steady golf on Saturday, and if this player was to take his game seriously he would be among the top four at the end of the season. The cards of the players who completed the round were as follows: K. Thomson 65, H. Karena 74, R. S- Downes 75, V. ' Picard 76, F. Picard 77, R. Harding ■78 and C. Young 84. ' On Sunday weather conditions were a 'little better and there was a good gathering of members on the links. A "hidden hole"'competition was held and the winners •were: A grade, T. Boon, with a score of 50; B grade, B. Harris, with 54. The results were as follows: R. Birch 61, E. Wilson 54, N. Mabey 58, !J. Mabey 58, J. Chambers 55, T. Boon 50, C. Booker 54. B. Harris 54, H. Karena 56, D. Higgie 54, F. Picard 62, W. Stern 56 and V. Picard 54. The hidden holes were Nos. 4, 7, 12 and 17. , "Top Dogs" i In the absence of his partner, N. Mabey had to play the holders of the "top dogs" unpartnered. The holders, E. Wilson and R. Birch, I proved the winners by three up and two to play. Handicap Reductions The handicap committee advises jthe following reductions in handiicaps: N. Mabey from 10—8 to 7—5, iW. Stern from 15 — 11 to 14 — 11 and K. Thomson from 17 — 13 to 14 — 11. !
