MISS ELIZA ANN MANNING The death occurred at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. Barnett, jEngle's Road, Shannon, on .July -27, ; of Miss Eliza Ann Manniiig. Born !in Ireland 86 years. ago,, the late Miss Manning came to New ■ Zealand in 1916 and residedin vai-i-ous placcs, coming from Wellington over eight years ago to resid with Mr. and Mrs. B'arhctt. Llking .he quietness of the country homo and appreciating the lovihg. care bestowed on her, she. lived with Mr. and Mrs. Barnett until her passing. Although practicaily blind when ; she came to Shannon and later becoming wholly so, the late Miss Manning was possessed of - a very : active brain and a- ready Irish wit, and her hand-knitted articles werc prized by her very many friehds.; Over 160 persons came from the Hawke's Bay, Taranaki -and Wellington districts, as- well as many local friends, to attend the funeral. ■The cortege left the residence following a service conducted by.Mr. Colin MacNicol and Mr. Herbert . Bland, of Wellington. The service j at the graveside was taken by Mr. j Ralph Beattie. ; . ' • j The late Miss Manning is sur- , • vived by one brother, Mr. Edward Manning, of the Wairarapa disI trict, and several nieces and J nephews.
