ANOTHER TRAIN SMASH
Reeeived Sunday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, August 3. Many persons were injured and carriages turned into smoking, twisted 1 wreckage when a paeked train erashed ] into the rear of another passenger j frain at Bavonue, New Jersey, last ; uight. The' erash was followed by an | explosion in the locomotive, starting a j lire whieh impeded rescue work. The trains were travelling in the j sanie direetion. One was just p-ulling ! out of the station after an unseheduled | stop. j The fireman on the rear train was t killed. One hundred were hurt, half ' of whom were treated 011 the spot and | allowed to go home. About 50 werel taken to hospital. j Most of the injured were travelling! in the rear coae.li of the leading train. .Manv pulled themselves tlirough sliat-j tered windows only to be enveloped m sealding steam.
