NATURE OF NEXT WAR
WASHINGTON, July 31. Senator Thomas, cliairman of the S-enate Military Committee, addrossing the World Affairs Institute, emphaeised that another war wbuld mean the end of western civilisation. He said that America, the United Nations Organisation,- and other nations possessed hiological and chemical agents of tinclreamed effectiveness which could utterly destroy a country hy death, disease, and starvation. Senator Thomas urged America to adopt a positive military policy, otherwise she would forfeit the results of the recent hard-won and' expensive victory.- , . ■ He pointed out that in future speed will he the most important characteristic of aggressive attack, against which there will he 110 defence except ability to retaliate, fear of which would he the main deterrent of aggressor nations.
