A powerful rescue tug is speeding seaward from St. Nazaire to try and save the food-carrymg American ship American Farmer, after an air reconnaissance from Plymquth had showed that she was still afloat after a collision yesteraay. It was stated yesterday that the American Farmer, which was carrying food to Britain, had sunk I after a collision with the Wiiliam J. Riddle, another American vessel, 480 miles from the Jrish coast. The cargo of the American Farmer inciuded 550 tons of wheat, as well . as evaporated milk, dried eggs and : machinery.
