MARKET REPORT
Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wellington, report that all varieties- of fruit have' again been sought. Passionfruit and grapefruit have been in particularly keen enquiry, while large Chinese gooseberries have been placed to advantage. Larger supplies of tree tomatoes have come to hand, values being slightly easier. Hot-house tomatoes have also been in demand, increased quantities of flowers have been offermg, choice blooms being sought, but values have shown a general decrease. Most varieties of vegetables have also been wanted, values remaining steady excepting for cauliflowers, which are now in larger supply. Poultry saies have also been well attended, values being maintaiped, Quotations are: — Tree tomatoes, 20/-, 28/6; Chinese gooseberries, 20/-, 44/-; passionfruit, 27/-, 45/-1-case; hot-house tomatoes, 3/-, 3/9 lb. ; oranges, grapefruit, Meyer lemons, ceiling; beetroot, 5/-, 12/6; celery, 31/-, 40/-; leeks, 10/-, 16/-; lettuce, 8/-, 44/-; turnips, 10/-. 16/6; sprouts, 30/-, 59/-; parsnips, 8/-, 14/-; rhuoarb, 25/-, 3u/-: spinach, 20/-, 43/- case; carrots, 8/-, 15/-; cauliflowers, 6/6, 20/-; swedes, 5/-, 8/-; marrows, 22/-, 30/6 sack ; cabbage, pumpkin, kumeras, ceiling; "green peas, 1/6. 2/1; new potatoes, 4d lb. Hens, heavy, 8/-, 19/-; old, 4/-. 7/-; cockerels, according to weight, 5/-, 15/-; Puliets 5/6, 18/6; roosters, 4/6, 7/-; geese, 7/-, 9/-; ducks, young, 9/-, 15/-; old, 5/-, 9/-; turkeys, 2/-, 2/4 lb. live weight.
