The death occurred yesterday at the Palmerston North Hospital of Mr. Charles Edward Stone, who had resided in Otaki for the past Den years. Mr. Stone, who was 89 years of age, was well-known for nis quiet, unassuming nature, and was popular with all who knew him. Mr. Stone leaves a grownup family of two sons to mourn their loss. Two sons paid the supreme sacrifice overseas, while his wife and a daughter died some time ago. The funeral takes place at Wellington. Vital Statistics Vital statistics for July were: — Deaths: Pakeha 3, Maori 2. Births: Pakeha 15, Maori 2. Marriage notices: 6.
