LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

MOUTOA BRANCH W.D.F.F. ! Sir, — the Moutoa branch of the W.D.F.F. consider it necessary to clear up any misunderstanding that may arise Lhrough uhe publication ' oi a report of a letter sent by the Shannon branch of the division te the Shannon Borough Councii oojecUng to the council's action ir. grandng permission to the Moutoa oranch to hoid a street stall or August 23. 6ur shop day, the first in three years, is being held to enable ue . oo continue our support for th food for Britain campaign. Foliowing the cessation of hostilitie: we commenced sending food par eels to Britain, aird many letters o. appreciaticn have been receivec. from recipients. Our branch is very proud of it record of assistance to servicemen during ihe war and parcels werc sent regularly. Incidently, the fooc for all the parcels has been pur ehased in Shannon wherever ■ sible. All patriotic efi'orts anc carnivals held in Shannon havc always received the financial anc active support of the Moutoa branch and citizens. The letter statecl that thc Shannon branch would not think of going into Moutoa to raisc funds. Well, of cc-urse, that is theii business, but we can only say tha'. any eifort by a recognised organisation has, and always will receive the support it deservei from Moutoa settlers. We feel surt that we are not deprlving the Shannon branch of any support by holding this shop day, ana would like to add that any boundaries held by the W.D.F.F. are for housekeeping and simllar engagements, and not as a demarcation of goodwill. We thank the councii for granting us a permit for August 23, and we have no misgivings or hesitation as regards the support we will receive from the Shannon public. Thanking you, Sir, for your generous space. Yours etc., (MRS.) M. G. FULLER, Hon. Sec. Moutoa W.D.F.F. Moutoa, July 30.
