INDUSTRIAL INSURANCE A RACKET

WELLINGTON, July 31. Speaking in Ihe House to the annual report of the Government Insuranee Commissioner, Mr. II. E. Combs (Wellington Suburbs) said industrial life insuranee policies were a racket.*- He pressed for an investigation into- the expense ratios of companies in relation to such policies, conditions under which industrial policies were issued in order to protect the people of New Zealand from the very poor bargains they were getting, and to _ see if a reasonable surrendel- value" had been ofCered policy holders. Mr. C. II. Chapman (Wellington North) said industrial insuranee .was something which should receive the early attention of the Government. He could not understand why people shoyld be so foolish as to talce out industrial insuranee when the social seeurit.y scheme was in operation. Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer said this type of insuranee was a matter which the Government was lopldng into.
