Received Thursday, 11.45 a.m. LONDON, July 31. Landmines, arms, British Army uniforms and forged bearer bonds on the Palestine Government were discovered in the basement of the Tel Aviv Synagogue when British troops searched the building to-day. The explosives included parcels constructed to explode when the brown paper wrapping was removed. They were stated to be big enough to wreck a small house. A portable radio was included in the military equipment. A Church of England padre, of the Sixth Airborne Divilion, led the troops into the synagogue. Suspicions were aroused by several packed kitbags, and a closer inspection revealed the cache. The police superintendent in Lydda district, Lieut.Colonel Bennet Shaw, toil a Press correspondent: "I don't believe we have caught any 'big fish' in the round-up yet, but we are only half-way through the search."
