STOCK VALUES FIRM

WEEKLY SALE IN LEVIN There was a further large yarding of fat sheep at yesterday's Levin weekly stock sale with values on a par with last week's prices. Quality on the whole was not as high as that of the last two weeks, but all classes sold freely. There were fair yardings of store hoggets and these were absorbed locally at prices on a par with outside districts. Well-grown woolly wether hoggets brought up to 25s 6d and smaller hoggets off the Paraparaumu hills 23s 6d. A line of small ewe hoggets made 23s 9d. The fat cattle section was oversupplied with prime cows, while ox, veal and runners were in short supply, these selling well in advance of any previous saies.
