COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

en.toyable ftjnction . - A very enjoyable coming-of-age party was held in St. Mary's Hall recently for Daphne, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Ackerman of Mangawhata. Over 100 guests«were present and among them were relatives and friends from Masterton, Fielding, Otaki and Mangawhata. With Mr. B. Boddy, an uncle, as M.C. dancing continued throughout the night to music supplied by a local orchestra. Two items v/ere given by Mr. Mann, Mangawhata, who played his bagpipes while his soh and daughter danced the reel. TWo songs by Mrs. Breeze were also much enjoyed. After a tasty supper had been served, Daphne cut the cake, which had been -made and presented by Mrs. L. Holmes, of Masterton. The lights were extinguished while the 21 candles were lit and blown out. Mr. Ackerman then presented Daphne with an outsize gold key, which was afterwards autographed by all present. In proposing the toast of the evening, Mr. Boddy, on behalf of the guests, extended best wishes to Daphne and wished her many happy returns of the day.' "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow" was then sung, after which Mr. Ackerman thanked all present, on behalf of his daughter, for making the evening such a suocess and for the large array of beautiful presents. Daphne, in a few words, also thanked one and all for the happy evening and presents, and the party terminated at midnight with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
