MRS. EVANS ENTERTAINED

FINE WORK RECOGNISED After seventeen years' service as matron of the Otaki Maternitv Hospital. Mhs. Evans has retired to live privately, and to recognise her valuable services there was a gathering of friends at ihe Anglican Hall yesterday afternoon. A most enjoyable time was spent. and occasion taken to wish Mrs. Evans health and happiness in her life of retirement. A presentation of a substantial "lieque was handed to Mrs. Evans by the Mayor (Mr. C. F. Atmore), who spoke in highest terms of her ;apabilities while matron at the hospital. Mrs. Evans suitably replied, warmly thanking all for such a generous gift. Afternoon tca was dispensed and enjoyed.
