The escapee was sighted tuuce'by eonstables last evening and early this morning but. eludod eapturo in the darlcness bota liiues. When ehalleuged by a eonstable while riding a eyele over Dublin Street bridge at 4.;?U this morning, the escapee abandoned tho uiachine and jumped over the railing of the bridge to tue bank below. Tlie escapee is believed to have been responsible for the robbery of elotlnng and £7 from a house at Gonville on Saturday afteruoon. Dardanelles who was remamled iu thc Hagistrate's Uourt 011 Friday on a charge of car conversion at Taihape, got out of the exereise yard at the gaol by using a form to scale the fence.
