Dairy Cattle for China,

At the request of the Senior Deputy Director-General of Unrra, Commander R. G. A. Jackson, who is at present in New Zealand, the Deputy Director-General of Agriculture (Mr. R. B. Tennent) is proceeding to China to investigate the possibfiity of the export of dairy cattle to that country from New Zealand. He.is to fly to Shanghai from Auckland, his program'me in China depending on conditions there. Shipment of dairy cattle to China, it is believed, would be an immediate step towards alleviating the food shortage there, with the possibility of a commercial export market later on. Cabinet will considep- Mr. Tennent's report before any further action is taken.
