WEDDING BELLS
JACOB— McKINSTRY St. John's Methodist Church, Levin, was the scene of a pretty wedding on -Saturday, June 22, when Nola Joyce, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. McKinstry, Durham Street, Levin was married co Leslie, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jacob, Oxford Street, Levin. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. S. Kings and Mr. F. Baumber was the organist. The ohurch had been artistically decorated for the occasion by the bridesmaids. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a cream satin gown. Silver and lace brocading outlined the yoke of the bodice, encircled the waistline and appeared again just above the hem and train of the full skirt. The sleeves were long and tight fitting, having the fulness at. the top brocaded in silver and lace. Her beautiful veil was held in place by a topknot of gardenias, and fell in folds to form a second train. She carried a shower bouquet of chrysan-
themums, jonquils, freezias and maidenhair fern. Her oniy ornament was a gold cross and chain. The two bridesmaids, • Miss D. Jones (chief) and Miss J. Makey, both of Levin, were frocked alike in ground-length gowns of lavender melody-crepe, having lowwaisted bodices and heart-shaped necklines, with the neckline and waist outlined in lavender -lace. On their hair they wore -lavender lace bows, with top-knots of statice and cyclamen. They carried bouquets of lavender cyclamen, statice. - violets -and maidenhair fern.- They also wore the bridegroom's gift of gold crosses and chains. Mr. P. Meddings, of Levin, was the best man and Mr. D. Hughes was groomsman. While the register was being signed, Mr. David Lunny, brother'-in-law of the bride, sang "Bless This tlouse." On leaving the church, the bride was presented with a horse-shoe by the bridegroom's niece, Ngaire Jacob. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. McKinstry, assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Jacob, received the guests in Messrs. A. L. Williams' reception rooms. During the toasts Mr. D. Lunny sang "O Fromise Me" and after the toasts Mrs. Lunny, sister of the bride, sang "Smiling Through." The bride's mother wore a black ensemble, v/ith matcliing accessories and a shohlder spray of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a grey ensemble, with red accessories and a shoulder spray of-red carnations. When Mr. and Mrs. Jacob left for their honeymoon, which was spent in the North, the bride was wearing a powder blue frock, tawn coat and black accessories. Their future home will be in Levin.
