Personal Mrs. F. T. Wilton is at present on holiday in Palmerston North. Dr. Savage is at present on a visit to Otaki. Mrs. G. M. McGill, who has been in Otaki for nearly two years for health reasons, lef.t for Wellington to-day with the intention of taking up r'esidence at Eastbourne. • - Among those who obtained passes ih the State examination for maternity nurses were Misses M. E. Brown, M. C. Duigan (hons.), P. Esler, D. Law and I. McMillan, of Otaki. The death occurred at Wellington on Tuesday- of Mr. Charlesj Arthur Low, a well-known resident, and father of Mrs. D. G. Reid, of . Otaki, and Mrs. A. Murray, of Dunedin. Deceased, who was in his 78th year, passed away suddenly. He was widely known in sporting circles, being for many years on the totalisator staff. Death came with tragic suddenness during the early hours of Sunday morning to one of Foxton's best-known and highly esteemed residents in the person of Mrs. Martha Mary Louisa Jay, wife of Mr. W. R. Jay, Seabury Avenue. The late Mrs. Jay, who was 68 years of age, was born at Bannockburn, Central Otago. Wandering Stock Wandering stock in the borough have proved a nuisance of recent date, and lawns and gardens have been eonsiderably damaged. Demolition of Tramway Fourteen miles of the old Sandon tramway have now been demolished and the rails and sleepers disposed of. Sale of Furniture The sale held on behalf of Mr. R. Gower, yesterday was well attended, despite the unfavourable weather. Goods realised satisfactory prices. Tennis Dance The Te Horo Tennis Club, at a • meeting on Tuesday, decided to hold a grand winter dance at the Te Horo Hall on August 2, when it is expectcd that the function will be largely attended. Particulars will be notified later.
