Horowhenua Lake nearly thirty years ago when it was the venue for many pleasant picnics and boating regattas On the domain area, which was situated several hundred yards north of Queen Street, quite a large boat shed was erected, and from this the jetty pictured above ran out over the water. At that time native bush ringed the lake, and in many places extended right down to the water's edge.
