It sp'nia that . the Major is an old hand tr tlie bush i and nobodv need have worried. On Saturday he went up Whariti with liis son who is trapping opossums. They : separated to attend the traps, the arrangement being to meet again at 4 •p.m. The Major, lvowever, liadn't ' turued up even at dark and arrange1 nients were in hand for a search party to scour the hills. ; "I stayed out a bit longer than I sliould have done, " the Major told , "The Tiuies" last night. "I spent the .dark hours on a ridge and then walked ; out at dawu. It was a bit- streEuous."
