Pouf times as many are dying from tuberculosis in Eitrope as before the war, says a report issued ,hy the Health Advisory commission of the League of Red Cross Societies. Poland 's situatioii is desperate. In oue school 17 per cent. of the students are tuherclllar. Tuberculosis and venereal disease have reached epidemic proportions thronghout Europe. Even in Norway, where there were . no oecu'pation troops, the GoVernmeiit has had to hegih a programme of education > to combat veftereai disease. Typhus, on the contraty, is practicaily UnknoWn iil Europe as the reSlllt of improved sauitation and D.D.T.
