HOMESERVICEMEN MEET
NEW OFFICERS OF THE OTAKI SUB-BRANCH With a view to setting the Otaki sub-branch of the Homeservicemen's Association on a sound footing, a general meeting was held at Otaki on Wednesday evening. The attendance was not large, but those present indicated that a good number of former members of the home services were prepared to join, and the sub-.branch's future now appears quite bright. A party of executive members of the Levin branch, comprising the president (Mr. H. A. Fenn ) , the secretary (Mr. C. D. Melville) and Messrs. J. C. Parsons and G. H. Kerslake, was present and gave information on the affairs of the association and the strides it was making. After a general discussion on membership a.nd the manner in which the sub-branch could function, the following officcrs were elected: — President: Mr. E. Anderson; vice-president : Mr. C. Hook; secretary-treasurer: Mr. J. L. Stevenson; committee: Messrs. T.*, V.'Gwyn, J. Houlihan, M. W. Bevati, N. Taylor and G. McKinley. Various routine matters were decided, among them that the committee should nieet on the secondi Wednesday in each month, the 1 next meeting to be on August 14. Those present undertook to have a membership drive before the ■ committee's first meeting. The newly-elected president (Mr. Anderson ) voiced the thanks of those present to the Levin members for attending, and -said he felt that the sub-branch would now function successfully. Mr. Fenn briefly replied, stating that any assistance the Levin branch or its members could give would be forthcoming. A vote of thanks to Mr. Nicolson for the use of his office concluded. the meeting.
