A 1125 Mitehell airpraft of the United States Armv Air Corps, lowered the Hvdiiey-Auelriand reeord time todav by ' 11 minutes when it flow (he distanee iu 4 hours -19 minutes. The aircraft, which was piloted by Captain H. 12. ! Kuver, oflieially left M ascot at 13.44 a.m. New Zealaiul time and landed at Whenuapai at 4.38_ p.m. The previous ' reeord of 5 hours was set by another Aritehell aircraft which flew from 8ydney to Auckland on May 2.S of t-liis year. The Mitehell, which is used as a communication aircraft, is stripped : of all armament and armour-plating. a : factor whieh eontributes largelv to its speed.
