STOCK FOODS FOR DROUGHT AREAS
WELLINGTON, July 10. The Government had done everything within its power to expediate the delivery of fodder to farmers in distriecs formerly affected by drought conditions and siiecial ships were chartered to litt the fodder available at various 8outn Island ports, said the Minister of Lanas, "H011. C. F. Skinner, in the House of Representatives to-day, when replying 011 behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, H011. B. Roberts, to an urgent question by Mr. S. W. Smith (Bay or Islands). Mr. Skinner said to date Ihe" following quantities had been shippea or were on tlie way: Cliaff, 104,907 sacks; liay, 107,736 bales; meals, 18,830 saeks; grain, 136,785 sacks; feed oft'ais, 35,882 saeks. Further sliipments were being arranged as vessels became available and it was expected that wliat was left in the South Island would be transported before the end of the winter period.
