AUCKLAND HOSPITALS NEED THOUSAND WOMEN

AUCKLAND, July 9. An extra GOG nurses and over 300 more women for household duties, are needed by the Auckland Hospital Board if its jiresent and future institutions are to be fully stafi'ed. In an effort to overcome the situation which is seriously liindering the city's hospital services, the board has lauuched an in tensiv.e .campaign for -recruits. Unless violunteers are found empty beds and long waiting listS of patients will continue to be oue of the major problems of the board and its offieers. On the opening of the campaign to day, press representatives, aecompanied by Board members and offieers of the National Employment Service, which is taking an active part in the drive for recruits, were taken on a tour of the hospitals and given a clear picture of worlcing eonditions of all sections of employees. The tour provided ample evidence of the board 's desire to make the work and leisure time of its staff as attraetive as possible. It also gave an insight into the effect of the staff shortage on the work of the hospitals.
