Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood have been visiting friends in Otaki. ' Miss B. Harper has been appointed sub-matron of the new Auckland School for Blind Children. Mrs. Wastie, who has been in indiiferent health for some time, enters the Palmerston North Hospiuai this week for treatment. Mr. W. L. Freeth, of Christchurch, who has been appointed to the teaching staff of the Otaki State Schooi, takes up duties at the end of the month. The death occurred at Manakau yesterday of Mrs. Charles Nees at the age of 77 years. The deceased lady was one of the pioneer settlers of the Horowhenua district, where she had lived all her life and was widely known. The funeral takes place at Manakau to-morrow.
