TRIBUTE TO CHAlRMAN ' The annual meeting of the Otaki j Boy. Scouts" Association was - held | recently when there was a good; attendence. * Mr. F. W. G: Rule pre- 1 sided. ' The balance-sheet presented was; adopted, and the * secretary (Miss i Street) thanked for her work- duririg the year. ' Mr. Rountree" was; thanked for' his work with the.; troop knd his interest ' -generally ; j through his efforts the roll had; been increased to 28. Mr. Roun- j tree stated that it was his- desire i to resign his position as scout- 1 master, but additional support was promised by members if he- wouldcontinue to carry on. Tribute was paid to the good work of Mrs. Henwood with the j Cubs, Mrs. Synnott pointing ouo i that it was due to Mrs. Henwood; that the Cubs had made such pro- ; gress. Thanks were accorded to j Mrs. Henwood.
Regret was expressed at the resignation of Mr. Ruie as chairman. A i vote of thanks' was accorded' him ' ; for - his work extending over a period of six to seven years: Mr. { Mos's said that Mr. Rule had been; of great assistance to the Scouting : Association. Mr. Rule, in acknowi- ! edging the remarks, stated tnat he. had found it 'a pleasure to work ' with the committee. He wished the j incoming chairman and committee i a successful and enjoyabie term. The following officers were eiected ; for the co'ming year: — Patron': Mr. L. G. Lowry; president: Mr. C. F. Atmore; vice-president: Mrs. j Swabey; secretary: Miss Street; ! chairman: Mr. Berry; vice-chair-l man : to be eiected at next meet - ; ing; treasurer: Mr. H. B. Edhouse; ! auditor: Mr. W. Morton; commit- . tee: Mesdames Allan, Moffatt,- Rule and Synnott, and Messrs. Hannah. Kelly, Nicolson, Stephenson, Moss, , Rountree and Rule. A discussion relative to the proposed exhibition followed, when it was resolved that the schedule: be referred back to. the schedule j committee With power to act, Mr. : Kelly agreed to take charge. It was • decided to include in the schedule a prize for the best collection of nealth stamps, children and adul'ts tc be in separate sections. Mr. Han- 1 nah agreed to take charge. It was . decided that the P. and ' T. Department be asked to loan ; stamps for exhibition purposes. Payments: Hall 5s, Mrs. Royal 15s, registration fees £1 2s 6d; advertisement 10s, petty cash 10s,- rent - Maori SLchool-room £3, Scouts' shop days (2) £1 9s 3d, petty cash 4s 6d, ' balance £129 0s ld, cash in hand 10s 3d, total £137 6s 7d. , .
