WELLINGTON, July 3. Tlie Prime Minister, llon. P. Fraser, in a statement to the ilouse eon^crning the supply of butter to the Ameriean Forces in tlie Pacific, said the butter was actually the property of United Kingdom l)ut was being transferred 1o tlie United States Army. The price for the present consignment by the Mariposa would lio 44 cents per Ib. The price for I'uture consignments would be looked at again and flxed in consullation with the British Govcrnment. Tlie. difference between the price paid l)y United States and tlie price New Zealand normally r'eceived from United Kingdom, would, of coui'se, be the property of United Kingdom. kfr. F. W. Doidge: Tsn't the price you mention 13 cents less tlian the prevailing price in United States? Mr. Fraser: About 11 cents less. That is again a matter for the United Kingdom- Government for which we are ngents. Mr. S. G. TTolland: Will the butter be loaded? Mr. Fraser: I don't know anytliing about that at the momcnt 1 hope the work will proceed in ihe normal way. Mr. J. Acland and iMr. E. B Corbett had earlicr given notiee to ask the Minister of Agriculture wliefher, in view of the arrangernent for supplying 10,000,000 Ibs. of butter to the East. to be replaeed by equivalent fats for Eng land from United States, immedi ate steps would be taken to revoke dairy eontrol as requested by last week's Dairy Confbrertce? ?»••' \ . Mr. Acland said the present Order had been a deterrent to |che production of dairy produce and its removal would allow supplying dairies to carrv out their operaitions in a manner best snited to their individual requircments.
