SCHOOL BUILDINGS
FOXTON SIMILARLY SITUATED TO OTAKI Foxton, like Otaki, suffers considerably for want of more up-to-dace buildings at the schooi. Ai the lasi meeting of the Foxton District High Schooi Committee, the boara member, Mr. I. W. Mudford said the time had arrived when the schooi was in urgent need of an assembU ha!!.
inis is essexiuxax xxuw bxxcto wi have three. separate schooi buildings," continued Mr. Mudford. "The shelter sheds are useless. I have given eonsiderable thought to this matter and I believe that a suit- , able building could be acquired through the board from Paekakariki. The intermediate schooi in Palmerston North recently acquired one in such manner and propose getting another for use as an 'dlS'Sembly hall.J No -schoel -is mora-in need of an assembly hall than Foxton and I think this committee should take the matter up with the board and ask for urgency." Mr. S. F. Morris (headmaster! said there was no question about the schooi needing an assembly hall. It would prove an invaluable asset, particularly in view of the scattered nature of the existing buildings. Such a building could bc used for physical recreation, social gatherings and for lunch periods on wet days. "Wet days are a nightmare for the duty teacher at present," he added, "as it is impossible to collect all pupils lunching at schooi in one room." The committee decided to write to the Wanganui Education Board asking that steps be taken to secure a building for the schooi with the recommendation that such be attached to the western : end of the primary block.
